Essex businesses receive up to £25,000 worth of support to grow their offshore renewable energy services.

Three Essex SMEs have been selected to take part in an award-winning technology acceleration programme.

The Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult’s Launch Academy supports innovative businesses in the offshore wind industry.

The latest Launch Academy programme is the first in the East of England. It recognises the region as one of the UK’s largest offshore renewable energy hubs.

The Essex Energy Switch is back from Monday 4 September, helping local communities come together to take the hassle out of searching for a better energy rate and supporting renewable energy.

 

Since the scheme launched in 2014, thousands of people across the county have switched suppliers using the scheme, often saving hundreds of pounds on their energy bills.

Ambitious retrofit training programme wins second award of the year

Essex retrofit programme receives its second award in the space of a month at the Unlock Net Zero Live Awards 2023.

 

The Harlow and Tendring Retrofit Pipeline for Economic Renewal programme received the ‘Collaboration of the year – knowledge building and research’ award at the Unlock Net Zero Live Awards 2023.

 

Essex County Council and the Retrofit Academy CIC received the award for their partnership work on the tailored programme, which saw more than 240 residents receive fully funded retrofit qualifications.

 

Climate Action at Prettygate Schools

Earlier this year, Prettygate Schools undertook a comprehensive three-phase project to help pupils access outdoor learning opportunities and connect to nature.

The project began with pupils from all year groups contributing to the planting of 2,158 trees over a three-day period to create a new forest school.

The trees were funded through the Essex Forest Initiative, an ambitious tree-planting project from Essex County Council (ECC) that will see 375,000 trees planted in the county between 2019 and 2024.

£5.27m secured to help create healthier streets

Schemes to create healthy streets in five parts of Essex will go ahead after Essex County Council bid to Government’s Active Travel Fund 4 is successful.

Funding of more than £5 million has been secured to change the look and feel of public places in Essex, creating space for residents to travel differently. 

By encouraging people to walk and cycle - perhaps just once a week – residents will have increased choice in how they travel, helping them improve their health, and even save money on their transport costs.
